    Job Description

    As a Wireless Network Administrator, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on Wireless Network Administrator joining our team to collaborate with the network architects, to design and implement strategies to maintain the wireless service utilized by the National Institutes of Health scientific research community, hospitals, and Institutes and Centers.

    HOW A WIRELESS NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

    • Assist in managing a Cisco Enterprise Wireless Network infrastructure.

    • Assist with site surveys, collecting requirements, and editing/reviewing wireless site maps.

    • Provide Tier 2 technical support and troubleshooting for client/user support.

    • Support life-cycle management of wireless infrastructure devices, such as the installation, tuning, testing, monitoring, operations maintenance, upgrading, patching, and troubleshooting.

    • Create and execute change requests plans in adherence to change management guidelines.

    • Apply upgrades and security compliance standards on all wireless network devices.

    • Conduct technical reviews of all changes.

    • Review and enhance Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.

    • Support GAO and audit activities.

    • Conduct periodic daily monitoring of the wireless service.

    Required Experience:

    • 5+ years of experience with access layer network deployment and configuration of Cisco switch devices and access points.

    • 2+ years' experience designing/deploying wireless solutions and testing components including access points, controllers, client devices and other WLAN infrastructures in campus or hospital environments.

    • 2+ years' experience with troubleshooting, perform site-survey, and updating site maps.

    • At least one of the Cisco CCNA/CCNP certifications and/or CWNP wireless certifications (or others)

    Required Technical Skills:

    • Knowledge of Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC), Prime, Ekahau

    • Knowledge of WLAN technologies, network management, and security, including IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WLAN standards and industry best practices.

    • Knowledge of security protocols and authentication (Wi-Fi Protected Access [WPA2], Extensible Authentication Protocol-Transport Layer Security [EAP-TLS], 802.1x, Authentication, Authorization, Accounting [AAA])

    • Medium to advanced MS Visio documentation skills.

    Security Clearance:

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NIH Public Trust NACI (T1)

    Preferred Skills:

    • Experience configuring and implementing network segmentation, including VLANs and MPLS

    • Experience with multiple end user system operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Mac OS, and Apple IOS
