    Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.

    Job Description

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for requirements development, traceability and flow down, architecture / system design and analysis, FMEA, developing / executing System Verification and Validation test procedures, supporting manufacturing and the global installed base.

    • Participate in software implementation for innovative future ultrasound projects using MATLAB and C++.

    • Provide domain expertise to serve as the main integrator between the hardware and software functions to deliver the best high quality ultrasound product.

    • Work across functions and team boundaries to define, design, and implement the next generation of products.

    • Work with customers, Product Managers, GE clinical team, and field personnel to refine requirements which can be implemented by the engineering teams.

    • Develop methods to quantify subsystem interactions and their effects on product performance.

    • Deliver and incorporate feedback results into new hardware, software and service specifications.

    • Design system architecture with an emphasis on the software components for innovative ultrasound projects.

    • Lead continuous improvement activities by driving the implementation of process and product quality improvement initiatives.

    • Comply with the Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations.

    • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.

    • Maintain full Quality System Regulation (QSR) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) requirements.

    • Maintain full regulatory compliance and other legal requirements. Ensure compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before approving Design Outputs/Program Deliverables.

    Required Qualifications

    • Master's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Ultrasound, Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field, and two (2) years of related experience in ultrasound. Alternatively, the employer will accept a PhD in Ultrasound, Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field. No experience required with PhD.

    • Position requires ultrasound physics and signal processing knowledge at a graduate level.

    • Position requires software proficiency in both MATLAB and C++. This would include, but not be limited to, the ability to create standalone code in both MATLAB and C++ and navigate and debug large code sets in both languages.

    • High level understanding of deep learning imaging techniques.

    • Project experience using ultrasound images and a deep learning model(s) for classification, segmentation, or image quality objectives.

    • Experience with ultrasound probe design. Ability to relate the probe specifications to customer impact.
