    PURPOSE:

    Manages a team of technical engineers that manages daily operations of the department responsible for the design and engineering of the organization's infrastructure. Manages the administration of environments in multiple on-premise data centers, cloud infrastructure as well as disaster recovery. Ensure and maintain availability, performance, security, automation, DevOps, and license compliance of all infrastructure systems. Ensures that hardware and/or software are installed and optimally configured in best practice by the vendor and meets the needs of the organization. Monitors system performance and provides recommendations and executes engineering tasks, as needed. Responsible for creating and maintaining area's customer based service level agreements. Responsible for mentoring staff and maintaining labor (talent retention), hardware and software budgets.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Oversees system storage engineers and storage engineering support processes to ensure effective resolution of business issues. Candidate must be familiar on an expert level with various storage systems (e.g., IBM, Pure, Infinidat, Dell/EMC) and able to direct the team in the day-to-day administration of Storage Systems and Subsystems to ensure peak efficiency and reliability. Responsible for overseeing the installation, configuration and maintenance of the storage systems and server configurations in the environments, including management of basic virtualization in the environment. Ensures that team engages strong troubleshooting capabilities to diagnose and resolve problems, and utilizes vendor support resources as required. Monitors and manages the work of the storage team to ensure that storage, network and security in the assigned environment is aligned with vendor and security requirements. Ensures proper procedures are followed to introduce changes and fixes into the operating environment in order to ensure lowest possible error rate. Ensures that maintenance levels are within vendor support and that all storage maintenance procurements are initiated and completed before contract expiration dates.

    • Evaluates deliverables to ensure storage products and services meet customer expectations. Oversees the development and maintenance of maintenance documenation, operations manuals, inventories and written procedures.

    • Manages the relationship with internal business units to deliver on storage service level agreements.

    • Performance Management and Associate Development.

    • Communicates frequently with vendors to understand storage product lifecycles.

    • Guides storage engineering teams in developing system, performance, and software specifications.

    • Leads validation planning process to outline deliverables, resources, personnel, and timelines for ongoing projects.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

    This position manages people.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

    Experience: 5 years Related professional experience. 1 year Supervisory experience or demonstrated progressive leadership experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

    • Ability to present technical and non technical information to multiple audiences.

    • Ability to build relationships across a variety of partner groups in a global environment.

    • Ability to plan and manage complex projects.

    • Knowledge of storage engineering theory and design criteria.

    • Proficiency with various systems engineering tools and processes.

    • Experience implementing/overseeing storage solutions for VMware, AIX, and Linux environments.

    • Demonstrated experience overseeing enterprise and mid-tier class storage arrays.

    • Demonstrated experience overseeing Brocade FC switches.

    • Experience with concepts like dynamic tiering & allocation, deduplication, replication and snapshots.

    • Experience with replication technologies for off-site data replication and disaster recovery.

    • Knowledge of implementing RecoverPoint with VMware Site Recovery Manager.

    • Strong problem solving skills.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Must be able to produce/review accurate technical documentation.

    • Self-motivated, adaptable to change and able to manage effectively in a team environment.

    Licenses/Certifications : ITIL Foundations v3 Upon Hire Preferred.

    Travel Requirements

    Estimate Amount: 10% Routine travel between CareFirst/SBP locations

    Salary Range: $133,280 - $247,401
