    Job Purpose:

    Under general guidance, work on development of engine and aftertreatment control technologies and components. As a Senior Control Systems Engineer, you will work on design, development, validation and deployment of modern engine and emissions control systems for our Locomotive, Marine, and Electric Power Generation product lines. You will develop system designs and architecture, define strategies and controls, and work with the program lead and development team to integrate strategies into a working system that meets program needs. Significant coordination and interfacing are required across organizations to execute job responsibilities.

    Education / Training:

    • Bachelor's degree in an accredited Electrical or Mechanical Engineering curriculum;

    • 4 years experience developing and/or working with embedded control system applications.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    Basic Qualifications

    • Experience / familiarity with heavy duty embedded control systems;

    • Ability to lead / drive resolution of complex technical issues;

    • Demonstrated ability to design and implement robust control system features;

    • Excellent organization, communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills;

    • Emphasis on initiative and strong technical insight;

    • Demonstrated clear commitment to customer satisfaction.

    Top Candidates Will Also Have

    • Experience / familiarity with embedded software development;

    • Experience / familiarity with emissions control strategies;

    • Experience utilizing development and data analysis tools (e.g. CANape, Python, MATLAB, Simulink);

    • Experience with model-based software development;

    • Desire to work in a fast paced, team environment.

    Essential and Physical Activities Functions

    • Strength - Position typically involves work in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial environment. Frequent/constant sitting. Occasional standing and walking. Occasional light to medium-level lifting or carrying (up to 30 pounds);

    • Motion - Position regularly requires standard motions associated with working in an office environment. Depending on assigned project, position may occasionally require motions involved in an industrial working environment, including some low to intense levels of pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grasping;

    • Vision/Hearing Requirements - Frequent verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;

    • Work Environment - Position is typically located in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial environment which may include a non-temperature-controlled environment, as well as exposure to noise (85+ decibels), occasional exposure to temperature changes, heavy machinery and other hazardous working conditions requiring the use of PPE. Position may require travel as necessary, both domestic and international;

    • Emotional Demands - Very high level of responsibility. Must be able to coordinate diverse aspects of a project. Requires significant interpersonal skills while sustaining very high standards;

    • Safety - Position may occasionally require the use of Personal Protective Equipment during visits to industrial areas.
