    We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Publicist or Publicity Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic publicity campaigns for our nonfiction health and wellness books. You will work closely with authors, media outlets, and other key stakeholders to generate maximum exposure and drive book sales. This role will be the lead publicist on several titles each season, and will occasionally work with a partner on some campaigns. There will be opportunity to work on a variety of titles across both Avery and TarcherPerigee, with campaigns on books that can be health, big think, and/or creativity focused.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement comprehensive publicity plans for assigned books, ensuring maximum media coverage and book promotion

    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key media contacts, including journalists, producers, podcasters, and industry professionals

    • Coordinate author interviews, media appearances, occasional author tours and speaking engagements to generate awareness and increase book visibility. Depending on the engagement, you may be asked to escort the author to the media outlet, and/or occasionally travel with the author to an event(s).

    • Write compelling press releases and media pitches to effectively communicate book messages and key selling points

    • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to align publicity efforts with overall book marketing strategies and sales goals

    • Monitor media coverage and track campaign results, providing regular reports to management and authors

    • High-touch author care and attentive communication with authors and agents

    • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging publicity opportunities within the health and wellness sector

    • Occasionally attend acquisitions meetings alongside publisher and editors to offer publicity insight and feedback

    Requirements

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in book publicity, public relations, or a related field. Experience in the nonfiction health and wellness genre would be beneficial.

    • Strong knowledge of the health and wellness industry, including key media outlets and influencers

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling pitches and press materials

    • Proven track record of successfully executing publicity campaigns and securing media coverage

    • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

    • Proficient in learning internal software, and using media databases (Muckrack), and social media platforms.

    The salary range for the Sr. Publicist level is $70,000-$73,000, and the salary range for the Publicity Manager level is $73,000-$76,000. To be considered at the higher level, candidates must have 6+ years of experience. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
