What you'll be doing...
The Verizon Technology Product Development (TPD) Product Security team works to incorporate governance and security into the design of technology systems and services while promoting Verizon security standards in the TPD organization. The TPD team is also responsible for the AWS infrastructure, PACT (Product AWS Cloud Technology). PACT is the directional platform for AWS deployments that provides a consistent, repeatable and secure way to drive product creation and innovation for all TPD, VBG and VCG product teams.
The PACT architecture and governance team is responsible for planning and review of overall architecture, development and implementation of the PACT AWS platform and support of the products that are on it. Working with colleagues from across the TPD organization, you'll run complex, large-scale projects to get new applications up and running as well as working with various Verizon consumer and business teams to migrate existing legacy AWS products and services on to the PACT AWS platform.
As the Senior Cloud Architect, your role will involve defining requirements and providing support to platform engineers and application architecture. As an SME, you will work with various Security, Network Engineering and IT teams to ensure the resulting architectures meet the product/service requirements. You will have a vital role in ensuring the timely delivery of new, highly scalable services that will positively impact the overall customer experience.
Design, Implement, Document and maintain complex cloud infrastructure to support Application development under defined Architecture Guidelines, in the Enterprise environment.
Help teams maintain and follow Architecture Best Practices, Established Standards and provide solutions / proof of concepts.
Support multiple technologies stacks running on cloud platforms and their integration needs from underlying infrastructure, in the Enterprise environment.
Work to thoroughly understand the Applications' infrastructure requirements, analyse the gaps and design the solutions to meet PACT standards.
Design and Implement AWS Services Catalogs consumable by the PACT platform.
Support Cloud Security, Cloud Networking, and Platform peers in understanding detailed infrastructure and application requirements.
Create, document and promote a detailed architectural roadmap for PACT.
Manage highly complex, large-scale projects to get new applications onto the PACT platform.
Conducting PACT workshops and collaborating with project managers and platform and application leadership teams to ensure timely delivery.
Act as a liaison in support of other applications teams when onboarding.
Drive efforts and provide material support to business teams by planning and designing architectural solutions in support of the Verizon PACT.
Provide guidance to junior staff and perform deep technical research on the impacts of new technology.
Oversee the review of major/key projects and initiatives by serving as the architectural lead for efforts such as but not limited to greenfield, brownfield product onboarding and creation of Public Sector solutions.
Lead weekly stand ups and review/analyze weekly status reports for actionable items.
Lead cross-functional team meetings with IT and business partners to ensure architecture project alignment.
Participate in weekly management meetings to provide feedback on key initiatives to the PACT management and workstream leaders.
Provide direction and prioritization of team assignments.
Build relationships and synergies across business areas to promote awareness, and improve adoption to ensure the protection of Verizon corporate and customer information.
What we're looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Infrastructure design and architecture experience on AWS cloud.
Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC, Cloud Formation, Security Groups, AWS Organizations.
AWS Network design experience including VPC, Subnets, DNS, IPAM, Firewalls, ACL and VPC Routing.
Even better if you have:
Experience with migration of large scale systems.
AWS Well Architected Framework knowledge.
CI/CD tooling experience.
Kubernetes, Docker or other container experience
Experience scripting in Bash, Perl or Python.
Knowledge of system design at an Enterprise level.
Knowledge of Public Sector, FedRamp, FISMA.
AWS Codestar services.
Auto-Remediation/ Compliance (Cloud Custodian).
AWS resource security best practices (EC2, RDS, ELB, Api-Gateway, Lambda, Cognito).
AWS Professional level Certification and/or Specialty level Certification.
