  • Overview

    Collects, displays, and monitors patient care data. Provides information to internal and external customers. Manages database and reporting functions.

    Responsibilities

    • Reviews, abstracts and inputs clinical data concerning a broad range of patient cohorts and clinical conditions.

    • Assists in the development of criteria for measuring quality. Coordinates data collection and compilation activities as appropriate.

    • Provides oversight for multiple departmental databases and is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of these databases.

    • Resolves identified problems both at case level and as a participant in a group to improve processes and/or communication.

    • Designs formats for data collection. Interprets, documents, and displays data in an appropriate format (graphical, statistical, and/or written summary).

    • Communicates with clinical staff concerning documentation and facilitates resolution of appropriateness and quality concerns as needed.

    • Conducts special statistical studies on request. Compiles monthly and annual summary reports and pattern analyses summaries as required.

    • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent database and clinical experience.

    • 4 years of experience in database management required. Relational database experience preferred.

    • Quality assurance, continuous improvement and data collection experience desirable.

    • Knowledge of computer technology highly preferred.
