Overview

Join our dynamic Accounting Department as a Real Estate Accountant. This role will require leveraging professional expertise in accounting principles and systems to ensure accurate accounting of our diverse real estate portfolio transactions, spanning commercial, residential, and storage properties. The successful candidate will collaborate within a team to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines, while also contributing to financial reporting, budgeting, and loan compliance activities.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the month-end close process, ensuring timely completion.

• Prepare bank reconciliations and journal entries with precision.

• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements.

• Conduct CAM reconciliations for tenant move-in/out, annual budgets, and reconciliations.

• Support property and corporate entity budgeting processes.

• Manage accounting functions for corporate and trust entities.

• Prepare annual financial information for tax purposes.

• Maintain fixed assets capitalization schedule accurately.

• Prepare quarterly loan compliance reports and address lender inquiries.

• Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies and trends.

• Review construction in progress and monitor project completion.

• Generate monthly gross potential reports for multifamily properties.

• Prepare partner financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

• Review third-party managed properties and integrate data into our accounting system.

• Perform ad-hoc assignments as required.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting desired

• 1-2+ years of experience in the real estate industry.

• Experience contributing to budgeting processes.

• Understanding and experience with CAM reconciliation processes is helpful

• Relationship Skills: Effective communication with owners, tenants, and coworkers; ability to develop cooperative working relationships; mature, self-motivated team player with conflict-resolution skills.

• Organizational/Multi-Task Skills: Effective time management; ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines; results-oriented with attention to detail.

• Decision-Making Skill: Ability to resolve problems using facts and sound reasoning; willingness to manage and adapt to change.

• Working knowledge of property management/accounting software (preferably Yardi and Sage), MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
