  • What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health

    Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop automated tools to support mass deployment, post upgrade validation, and testing across the field.

    • Serve as point of technical escalation of application and software issues and to troubleshoot production data and performance issues in all tiers of an N-tier architecture.

    • Be a generalizing specialist that primarily contributes technical expertise in the execution of production-grade operations, as well as eager to contribute to other areas your (agile) team needs help with to succeed.

    • Analyze production system operations using tools such as monitoring, capacity analysis and outage root cause analysis to identify and drive change that ensures continuous improvement in system stability, performance and sustainability.

    • Establish and implement operational best practices and procedures.

    • Maintain and enhance and use monitoring tools.

    • Write and update technical documentation such as SOP, Policies...

    • Conduct developments tests, writing reports, and debugging code.

    • Build applications for various platforms using common frameworks, including Java, Linux, Rest API, etc.

    • Write scripts to support automation of identified recurrent work.

    • Key participant in all related system migration and disaster recovery planning impacting multiple products.

    • Create dashboards from different tools (Salesforce, Splunk, Cardinal Health web app, Sentry, Grafana) to centralize data view and trends.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or related fields preferred

    • 4-6 years of related work experience preferred

    • Database Skills DML/DDL/DCL preferred pSQL/MySQL/Oracle Database

    • JavaScript knowledge required

    • Familiarity with network base monitoring tools preferred

    • Experience with shell scripting (Linux or Python)

    • Strong desire to solve problems and attention to details.

    • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, prioritize as necessary so that all clients receive the highest level of customer service.

    • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.

    • Detail-oriented and goal-oriented

    • Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly.

    • Ability to integrate within multiple agile teams and coordinate changes between engineering, product management and customers.

    • Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.

    • Proven knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming skills (preference: Java).

    • Proficiency in working with Linux operation system.

    • Knowledge of algorithms and data structures.

    • Understanding of APIs and SSL

    • Experience with GIT and Postman is a plus.

    • Knowledge in Splunk and ~~~ is a plus.

    • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

    Anticipated salary range : $92,100 - 131,600
