  • Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring a Physical Therapy Aide to work at the main hospital in Lawrenceville. The person in this role will work 1-2 Saturday's per month.

    The Physical Therapy Aide provides unit support activities as appropriate to department. Transports patients, medications and specimens to appropriate location as needed. Maintains a safe, clean and therapeutic environment including ordering and stocking all supplies.

    Responsibilities:

    • Checks Cerner for new PT orders and updates the physical therapist when working on the weekend

    • Maintains a safe and clean environment including cleaning of therapy equipment and toys after use according to the hospital infection control guidelines. Includes monthly cleaning requirements for therapy items such as ball pits, hydrocollators, etc.

    • Supports physical therapists in the delivery of care to patients (patient safety, splinting and casting, equipment care, therapy groups, etc.)

    • Tags and inventories equipment on loan to department from outside vendors. Answers telephones and relays messages to appropriate personnel in a timely and professional manner

    • Assists with inventory of special needs car seats including phone calls to families for overdue seats

    • Assist with transport of patients from therapy to and from their room with supervision of therapist

    • Maintains inventory of assistive devices and organization of storage areas. Completes crash cart and temperature logs for needed equipment such as hydrocollators and refrigerators

    • High school diploma is required.

    • May in the course of their job duties be in rooms where medications are stored.

    • No contact with medications is allowed. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting

    • Act 33 with renewal

    • Act 34 with renewal

    • Act 73 FBI Clearance
