  • Job Title: Inventory Specialist

    VCA Veterinary Emergency Service & Veterinary Specialty Center is seeking an Inventory Specialist to join our team. Veterinary Technicians are encouraged to apply!

    Schedule: Full-time opportunity, Monday - Friday 8am- 5pm.

    Position Overview: The primary responsibility of this role will be to manage and maintain the inventory of medical supplies, medications, and equipment within the hospital. Additionally, the Veterinary Technician will be expected to assist on the floor as a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) when needed, providing support to veterinarians and ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee inventory management processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and organizing medical supplies, and medications.

    • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies or shortages.

    • Monitor inventory levels and anticipate supply needs to prevent stockouts and ensure timely reordering.

    • Maintain proper storage and handling of medications and supplies, adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines.

    • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement inventory control procedures and protocols.

    • Utilize inventory management software to track inventory levels, generate reports, and analyze usage patterns.

    • Assist in the development and maintenance of vendor relationships, including negotiating pricing and terms.

    • Train and educate staff on proper inventory management procedures and best practices.

    • Participate in staff meetings, continuing education opportunities, and other professional development activities.

    Qualifications

    • Previous experience in inventory management, preferably in a veterinary or medical setting.

    • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Proficiency in using computer software for inventory management and record-keeping.

    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

    • Flexibility to assist in clinical duties as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
