    Description of Work Unit

    The Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University is a large academic and research department in the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering. We currently have nineteen faculty members, eighty graduate students, over seventy full-time researchers and postdoctoral fellows, and an outstanding and dedicated support staff, that comprise one of the most research-active units at the university. The department conducts more than $14M in externally sponsored research each year and is nationally ranked near the top of its field. Within the Department, the Fischer Group is focused on improving the understanding of the sources, fate, and impact of both oxidized and reduced nitrogen through data collection, analysis, and modeling of new observations.

    Position Summary

    The Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University is looking for a research assistant in the field of atmospheric chemistry to help with routine sample changes for volatile organic compound ( VOC ) sampling in northern Colorado. The individual will work with faculty, research scientists, and student researchers to coordinate and change whole air sampling canisters.

    Position Minimum Qualifications

    • B.S. or equivalent in a physical or environmental science

    • Some hands on experience with whole air canister handling

    • Demonstrated Reliability

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Good oral communication skills
