    The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Mission Systems & Autonomy (MS&A) software capability is seeking a Ground Software Subject Matter Expert in Huntington Beach, CA, or Colorado Springs, CO.

    The selected candidate will work with the BR&T Payload Products & Technologies (PP&T) product team focused on the concept, requirements, architecture, design and development of an advanced space-based imaging sensor payloads. The position will involve creating software products for ground system mission processing.

    The selected candidate will work with the PP&T product team to provide complete solutions, including systems engineering, optics design, algorithms, software development, firmware development, and electronics. The candidate will also work with the software product line owner, program managers, and development leads to create common software products and tailor them for use on a portfolio of customer-funded programs.

    The successful candidate will work across programs to ensure software products are developed for commonality and tailored to meet mission need. The candidate will work with development leads for ground mission software to ensure engineering excellence and achieve program objectives.

    Position Responsibilities

    • Lead in satellite ground software requirements, architectures, designs, interfaces, and technologies.

    • Serves as business portfolio and customer focal on ground system mission processing software products.

    • Serve and SME in ground mission data processing capabilities to analyze and disseminate data.

    • Serve as SME in command and control capabilities for satellite and mission operation.

    • Serve as SME in Neptune, Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE), Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM).

    • Drive satellite ground software product line architecture and strategic reuse across all programs

    • Drive ground software execution to deliver products on-cost and on-schedule to programs.

    • Responsible for ground software safety, assurance, quality, and engineering excellence.

    • Drive first time quality in all phases of product and software development lifecycle.

    This position is onsite. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.

    This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience )

    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

    • 10+ years of experience with object-oriented software development (C/C++, Java)

    • 10+ years of experience in developing software in a collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process, including code reviews and DevOps processes/tools

    • Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture, middle-ware tools, and Relational Database Management Systems

    • 5+ years of experience do you have working with relational database management systems (Exadata, Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server)

    • Active Top Secret Security Clearance

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience )

    • Full software lifecycle experience from planning, design, implementation, and through test and maintenance

    • Experience with software development for space systems and ground segments performing command, control, mission planning and data processing

    • Experience with cloud computing, virtualization technologies, & containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)

    • Experience with Neptune C2 Software, Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE), Advanced Framework for Simulation, and/or Integration and Modeling (AFSIM)

    • Experience with new product development with small, agile teams on fast-paced, dynamic customer-funded programs

    • Experience with fault tolerant architectures and designs

    • Experience in software architecture, design, and modeling including UML or SysML

    Typical Education/Experience

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Summary pay range : $161,500 - $218,500
