    As the Director of Merchandising, you will be responsible for establishing the short-term and long-term strategic plans for the merchandising team for the assigned portfolio in conjunction with executive leadership. You will provide leadership and direction to develop strategy and create sales and margin-driving programs and events that lead to strong sales for Independent retail customers with corresponding on-target sales and gross profit for C&S.

    You will manage the execution of merchandising initiatives and business development plans for categories while leading merchandising teams to ensure the integrity of established initiatives. In this role, you will oversee the merchandising P&L and overall margin contribution for their assigned portfolio(s) and region(s). You will interact directly with vendors and suppliers to build relationships and negotiate best-in-class cost and promotional support for the company and our Independent customers.

    You will also be responsible for leading and implementing category strategies, leveraging scale, building strategic vendor relationships to support financial growth, and meeting Regional customer needs. You will lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet the needs of the ever-changing competitive landscape through innovation, strategic planning, and continued development and training for merchandising teams.

    Job Description

    You Will Contribute By

    • Leading the team in daily activities for achieving weekly gross profit objectives, including gross, flyer, incentives, and post audits, as well as mitigating financial risk.

    • Daily negotiating and interaction with vendors on partnership programs and national merchandising programs.

    • Directing ad hoc projects that are required to meet the demands of our day-to-day business activities, providing the merchandising teams with proper direction, resources, and support to achieve outcomes successfully.

    • Accountability for the team's price changes and maximizing margin opportunities by monitoring key commodities and trends relevant to the business.

    • Executing quarterly gross goals and yearly departmental strategies and aligning team KPIs.

    • Leading and developing talent across multiple teams, including performance reviews, growth development plans, succession planning, and talent hiring.

    • Oversight of the team to ensure sourcing penetration on pertinent vendors is maximized.

    • Managing overall relationships with manufacturers.

    • Leading new customer start-ups on planning, implementation, and execution, as well as focusing on customer relationships and overall perception

    • Travel Required

    We're Searching for Candidates With

    • Specialized Knowledge: Strong understanding of core competencies of the wholesale model, ability to lead others, understanding of commodities and how they work.

    • Special Skills: Strong negotiation skills, organization, prioritization, problem-solving, and setting and communicating direction; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

    • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

    • 7-10 years of related work and supervisory experience
