    The role you'll contribute:

    This position is responsible for ambulatory and post-acute ancillary provider managed care contracts for the state of Florida. In 2023, the contracting scope of AdventHealth managed care in Florida includes 53 urgent care centers, 18 freestanding imaging centers, 15 reference and outreach lab locations, 6 ambulatory surgery centers, and another 14 post-acute providers responsible for home care, home infusion, durable medical equipment, and hospice services.

    This position shall also oversee and facilitate AdventHealth ambulatory and post-acute ancillary provider contracting strategies for non-Florida ("multi-state") markets across the country. This position will lead all national ancillary contracting initiatives that include multiple AdventHealth markets.

    The Director -Ancillary Provider Contracting is responsible for ensuring that all functions related to the development, negotiation, execution, and ongoing performance of managed care contracts are completed timely and in accordance with the needs of AdventHealth.

    Oversees AdventHealth ambulatory and post-acute contracting for the state of Florida. In 2023, AdventHealth owns and operates in the state of Florida. In 2023, AdventHealth owned and operated in the state of Florida (6) infusion centers, (53) urgent care centers, (2) hospice agencies, (9) home care agencies, (15) freestanding reference laboratory locations, (18) freestanding imaging centers, and multiple additional joint venture ancillary providers. Additionally, contributes to certain hospital-based outpatient department service lines aligned with AdventHealth ambulatory business strategies, including but not limited to ground and air transportation (EMS), outpatient therapy services, and outpatient infusion services.

    The value you'll bring to the team:

    • Represents the Managed Care Department as a liaison to ambulatory and/or post-acute provider leadership for both Florida and multi-state markets, advising on managed care topics, including reimbursement performance and opportunity, health plan operational strategies, and market dynamics.

    • Supports negotiation projects assigned by departmental leadership where ambulatory and/or post-acute provider presence is included, participating in ongoing, long-term health plan relationships.

    • Manages one or more contract negotiators who are responsible for contract performance applicable to ambulatory and post-acute provider service lines, including negotiating new and updated terms related to reimbursement, operational performance, or other industry best practices.

    • Assists in the development, refinement, and execution of managed care strategic goals and specific initiatives related to ambulatory and post-acute provider service lines.

    • Coordinates with ambulatory and post-acute provider leadership within AdventHealth's revenue cycle operations teams in both Florida and multi-state markets and with additional resources in the Managed Care department to timely identify and seek resolution on issues related to managed care contract performance.

    • Participates in internal committees as assigned to advance the strategic managed care position of AdventHealth, such as the development of new technology or new services.

    • Presents to AdventHealth leadership groups on managed care activity related to ambulatory and post-acute provider service lines as needed, and updates managed care departmental staff to effectively promote communication on current strategic initiatives, contract changes, and performance improvement.

    Qualifications

    The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Strong understanding of managed care contracting

    • Demonstrated understanding of managed care contract terms

    • Demonstrated understanding of applicable healthcare and contract law

    • Effective management and leadership skills

    • Effective decision-making skills

    • Proven skills in contract negotiation and execution of managed care strategy

    • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-management skills

    • Excellent quantitative, verbal, written, and presentation skills

    • Solid experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED :

    • Strong understanding of ambulatory and post-acute service line financial performance and reimbursement

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business, Finance, or other related discipline.

    • 3 or more years' progressive experience in contract negotiations for healthcare services.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

    • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance or other related discipline.

    • 3 or more years' previous healthcare experience within ambulatory and/or post-acute provider services.

    • Previous experience within a multifunctional healthcare integrated delivery system.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Direct supervision of all assigned staff employees

    • Assignment of negotiation tasks, contract assignment, and special projects

    • Ongoing education, training, and development of staff best practices related to managed care

    • Availability to meet regularly with staff as well as management to facilitate updates related to managed care strategic initiatives.
