    SUMMARY

    The Director of Accounting, is responsible for the leadership and direction to a team of accounting professionals with primary responsibilities for managing month-end close processes, including financial reporting, journal entries, and reconciliations, with emphasis in supporting joint ventures. In addition, this role will help drive continuous process improvements and lead overall Sox responsibilities to promote a robust control environment within the organization. Position requires a candidate with a significant amount of professional agility, a self-starter that quickly and effectively translates organization initiatives to departmental goals in order to achieve desired results.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.

    • Develop and maintain joint venture financial reporting for various levels of internal management reporting needs, including tax reporting.

    • Lead responsibility for month-end close processes and variance reporting for joint ventures.

    • Develop and maintain accounting processes to adhere to all joint venture agreement terms to ensure compliance.

    • Provide support for the annual internal and external audits, including stand-alone audits for joint venture arrangements.

    • Develop and maintain intercompany accounting policies and procedures to support complex, intercompany transactions.

    • Monitor intercompany balances and ensure timely settlement, where applicable.

    • In collaboration with Internal Audit, conduct risk assessments to identify and design key SOX internal controls to mitigate risk of financial misstatements.

    • Oversee the execution of key controls to enforce an effective control environment.

    • Responsible for supporting management initiatives including process standardization and simplification, financial analysis and research, and reporting.

    • Work with team members to establish annual goals and strategic objectives.

    • Responsible for maintaining a high-performing team including mentoring and training staff members and identifying cross-training opportunities.

    • Demonstrate agility with competing projects and priorities.

    • Lead and nurture a work culture with a positive attitude that promotes open, frequent and dynamic communication among staff, stimulating teamwork to accomplish desired goals and objectives.

    • Collaborate with other department in accomplishing strategic objectives.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance

    • Ten or more years of experience in the accounting/financial reporting areas

    • Seven or more years of supervisory experience

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Four or more years of experience in public accounting

    • CPA, MBA, or graduate finance related degree

    • Workday Financials experience or other large ERP systems

    • Intermediate understanding of REIT industry

    • Working knowledge of joint venture accounting and accounting for various legal entities

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Effective interpersonal, communication and listening skills necessary to form strong working relationships with all levels of management and throughout the various cross functional teams

    • A strategic thinker with an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and financial processes

    • Strong self-starter that thrives in a fast paced, dynamic environment with multiple and evolving priorities and deadlines

    • Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel skills

    • Experience with automated accounting systems

    • Must have the ability to effectively interface with all levels of the organization

    • Demonstrate willingness to partner across internal departments with competing priorities
