    CERTIFIED PEER SPECIALIST

    RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

    • High School Equivalency and 1 year of related or personal Mental health experience. Computer skills are preferred. Personal experiences or familiarity with mental health and/or drug and alcohol difficulties is preferred. Certification in Peer Support is required.

    • Valid Driver license

    • Ability to drive an organizational vehicle

    • Act 33/34/73 clearances

    • Pre-employment drug screen

    SCHEDULE:

    Evening hours vary according to program need. 15-20 hours per week.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    • Our Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) provides non-clinical support to individuals in a Supportive Housing program specifically for 18-25 young adults.

    • As a CPS, you are first and foremost a peer - meaning that you have lived experience with mental illness and/or addition - and can serve as a role model for recovery values and principles, providing hopeful information about recovery and wellness.

    • While required daily tasks to ensure the health and well-being of the residents and site are of utmost importance, this position offers many opportunities to engage with the residents both on site and out in the community.

    • Along with daily interactions and conversations, staff are highly encouraged to help support the residents' well-being through socialization, developing and encouraging participation of both and on and off-site activities, shopping, trips, and other activities that support their social and personal well-being.
