    JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the Sales Manager or the General Manager, the Account Manager (Outside Sales Representative) is responsible for expanding sales to existing customers, developing and securing new customers, and attaining the sales goals for volume and profitability, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Perform field sales work to increase the sales of company products to existing customers, and/or sell and secure new customers by understanding the customers' needs and demonstrating how the company's personnel, service and products add value and help improve the customers' competitive position in the marketplace.

    • Demonstrate products and assist prospective accounts to select those that best suit their needs. Recommend tooling and fixturing solutions to the customer.

    • Assist in the development of special products. Develop and sell integration software programs.

    • Demonstrate and familiarize established accounts with new products (services) and developments.

    • Coordinate with inside sales to prepare and provide quotations and increase sales. Follow up on quotes and orders daily. Expedite tools and orders when required. Place purchase orders for customers as required.

    • Act as a technical resource to customers, inside sales and other departments to address and resolve inquiries, issues and problems, to perform tooling tests, spec out new tools, research better options and performance improvements for customer processes, calculate speeds and feeds, ensure equipment and tools are working properly, etc.

    • Provide or coordinate the supplying of needed training to customers.

    • Coordinate with key suppliers and manufacturing representatives to increase sales volumes and better serve the customer.

    • Participate in trade shows and/or follow up on leads from trade shows.

    • Identify changes in product demand, technology, promotional matter, sales techniques, pricing, market policies or competitor products in assigned territory and present information to management.

    • Provide catalogs and promotional materials to customers as requested.

    • Prepare and distribute on time all assigned and required reports to the appropriate parties, to include expense reports, customer records, cost saving reports, call reports, etc.

    • May assist customer with managing inventory in their tool crib. May stock customer tool vending machines.

    • Manage sales costs within budgeted expectations.

    • Complete special projects as assigned.

    • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

    MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Entertain customers within guidelines of the company.

    • Pick up and deliver products to customers and vendors as needed.

    • Assist in designing tools as needed. Maintain assigned company vehicle.

    PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Per customer requirements, may use safety glasses and shoes, hearing protection, and hard hats.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a bachelor's degree with a job related major and three to five years of related experience; or an associate degree or two years of college or the completion of a journeyman's program with job related coursework and five to seven years of related experience; or a high school diploma and seven to ten years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals. Ability to prepare reports, quotes and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, customers and other employees of the organization. Ability to close sales favorable to the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Requires a valid driver's license.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requires the ability to operate a variety of small hand and power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, pumps, motors, cutting tools, and precision measuring devices. Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and the job related software, a keyboard, calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, etc.

    Compensation starting at $62370 - $89100 / year and up dependent on candidate location and experience.
