  • Description:

    This is a first shift CNC Swiss Lathe Machinist / Programmer position for our client. Shift times are 7:00am- 3:00pm They do mostly CNC Precision work for a large medical device company. They produce over 400 parts at this location from CNC Mills, Lathes, and Swiss Lathes. This position requires the CNC Swiss Lathe Programmer to set up the machines and programs for the lathes, troubleshoot the software on the machines as needed, and to do some of the machining when not working on the programming end of it for the swiss lathes. They produce small to medium sized components as either as a finished product or as part of another larger product to be assembled. They have Tsugami Swiss Lathes and use Mastercam software. The pay rate is $40 - $50/hr and they are will to pay $175 per day per diem for this position while on contract. The ultimate goal would be to hire this person on direct down the road and relocate. They don't work weekends unless very far behind and all of the overtime is during the week. They average overtime worked is 5 to 10 hours per week.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This is 60% Programming and 40% Machinist responsibilities

    Develop programs on a laptop, troubleshoot the software on the machines, and operate and set up CNC swiss lathe machines to produce production parts and assemblies when not programming.

    Set Up the machines and do first runs to ensure proper output

    Positions parts in specified locations using a variety of fastening devices

    Operates hand-held tools, electrical tools, and/or pneumatic tools

    Operates lift equipment as needed

    Uses precision measuring tools as required

    Ability to recognize various material types used in department and adjust equipment if needed

    Ability to recognize worn tooling and change in machine as required

    Verifies accuracy of completed product or batch inspects

    Reports defective materials, discrepancies, process malfunctions or completed products that are not in compliance with company and/or customer specifications to the Department Lead

    Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations

    Completes all necessary paperwork as required, including in process or carbon copy production sheets
