Keep Growing to Tap Your Life’s Full Potential

The other day I was meeting with my master mind group and one of our members, Joyce Weiss, a business coach and consultant, said something that really made sense. She said, “When you grow, you have to let things go.” When it comes to running a business or working in a business job, it is important to recognize that it is only part of your life long journey. There will come a time when you must let go of it if you are going to grow to your full potential.

Far too often it is easy get trapped in the mindset that where you are is where you will be for the rest of your life. In other words, you think that things are going to stay the same and not change. You think the company you own or are with will always be there, the relationship you are in will continue on forever, or your health will always be good. Please don’t fall into that pit.

I have several friends who thought they were going to work for the same company until they retired. Boy, were they surprised when they got the notice their services were no longer needed. A friend of mine was going along with his life when his wife came home one day and demanded a divorce. Another couple my wife and I know were cruising along in life until the husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. In each of these examples, no one was expecting those things to happen.

Regarding you or people you know who have lost their business or their job for whatever reason, recognize that this is part of life. To repeat what Joyce Weiss said, “When you grow, you have to let things go.” Something to remember when you let things go is that you make room for other things to come into your life. New business opportunities or new jobs can be there waiting for you, however you must be prepared. The way you can prepare yourself is by having an ongoing self improvement plan. You have got to keep your mind open to learning. Talking with business associates, reading blogs, books and subscribing to business periodicals can keep you on the cutting edge.

Many times new opportunities cannot be recognized because they lie behind the veil of an unfortunate situation. Once we are able to let go of the memory of what we lost, we open up our consciousness to identify and embrace new possibilities. Some of these possibilities have been there for awhile; others just appear. Regardless, by seizing the moment and taking action, you increase your chances for success.

The beautiful thing about all of this is that you are living your life through the conscious decision of taking action. By constantly making conscious decisions, you create a life path that will allow you to experience your life to the fullest potential.
