3 Ways To Increase Your Like-Ability

Being more likeable is a great way to improve your chances of getting the job. Here are 5 ways that you can increase your like-ability today.

It's a fact that the more likeable a person is, the easier it is for them to make friends, build relationships and even find a job. Many employers have said that the thing that makes them hire one person over another oftentimes is just that they liked one person better.

It looks as though your grandmother was right when she shared that old gem about catching more flies with honey rather than vinegar.

So what can you do to increase your own like-ability? Here are 3 things you can do today:

  • Be passionate – This one is difficult for many of us. For me, I always have tried to keep my expectations reasonable and not get too excited about things. I used to have this attitude that I didn't want to be someone who was really into my job or even my life. I wanted to keep calm and keep things at a distance. The thing is, when you are passionate about your job, your life or whatever, it makes your eyes sparkle and people can't help but feel excited as well. We all want to have people around us who are engaged and passionate about life. If you don't think you have anything to be passionate or excited about, look around and see where you can create your own enthusiasm.

  • Have a good sense of humor – This doesn't mean being a clown or always making jokes. It just means that when you are able to share a laugh and even laugh at yourself, you make other people feel like laughing as well. Sometimes all it takes is keeping a smile on your face. Many people have a great sense of humor at home, but end up not taking it to the office. Try smiling and greeting your co-workers in the morning. It will make everyone smile and start the day off in a positive mood.

  • Assume kindness – This one is sometimes still really hard for me. Whenever you encounter anyone, assume that they mean to be kind. This is something that can really help prevent misunderstandings and taking things personally. When you assume that other person wants to be kind, you can work together to solve problems rather than feeling as though you are enemies. Assuming kindness is one of those things that actually can change your outlook on the world and make you a more positive, happy person. And everyone likes people who are happy and upbeat.

Being likeable isn't something that just happens. You have to work on it. The main things are to keep an upbeat attitude and actually listen to what other people have to say. We are all mostly nice people on the inside, but when you smile and treat everyone with an upbeat, positive attitude, other people can't help but smile back.
