Alpine Springs County Water District is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of General Manager. We are seeking candidates with extensive work experience in management or administration in a public agency or private industry. Alpine Springs County Water District provides water, sewer, garbage, fire, and park services to approximately 650 residents and businesses in the Alpine Meadows community in North Lake Tahoe.
The District has 3 full time employees in addition to a General Manager.
In order to be considered for this position candidates should have broad and extensive experience in managing financial resources and capital construction projects, in budgeting for long-range capital projects, in contract administration, and in staff and risk management.
The General Manager works under the direction of a five-member Board of Directors and is responsible for the water distribution system, sewage system, garbage services, a fire services contract, and a community park.
The General Manager oversees the preparation of agendas, budgets, rate studies, and ensures the financial stability of the District. In addition, the General Manager keeps the Board informed of all operational, financial, legal, social, and economic issues that currently or in the future may affect the District .
Qualifying education and experience could include: graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred), Public Business Administration, or related field and five years of management or administrative experience. Other qualifications could include experience with water resources management, public agency administration and special district law. Work experience in the water/wastewater industry is highly desirable. Applicants shall possess or have the ability to obtain a Grade II Water Treatment Operator Certificate (T2) and a Grade II Water Distribution Operator Certificate (D2) issued by the State of California Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) Drinking Water Department within two (2) years of employment.
