As the Director of Communications for the CVP, you are the voice behind the voice. We're seeking a communications leader to drive executive and employee communications for an organization that touches more than 60,000 employees worldwide. In this role, you will be report to the Chief of Staff and directly support the Corporate Vice President. You will help extend this CVP's reach by building and executing against a Communications Plan that amplifies the voice of the CVP and aligns to the corporate communication strategy. You will be a critical player in defining the messages delivered by this senior executive through internal and external communications including videos, social media, internal and external keynotes, and written and face-to-face communications. The role will be responsible for full end to end management of speaker preparation, rehearsals, briefing documents and supporting materials.
In addition to working directly with the executive, you will work with groups across S&O and MCAPS, to ensure that messages are aligned to the Microsoft mission, strategy, business priorities and culture. This individual must thrive in a very fast-paced environment, sometimes ambiguous environment, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task across a variety of projects. Leads development, review, and editing of materials for internal and external communications including briefing materials, scripting/messaging for internal keynotes, presentations, media engagements, social media, and events. Drives the use of current and relevant templates and materials and the improvement of same. Builds on effectiveness of previously used materials. Drives interactive engagement where appropriate.*
Develops materials, identifies issues and gaps in communication, and recommends courses of action to address urgent and emergent situations in a comprehensive and timely manner. Mentors others in how to approach and navigate urgent and emergent situations. Takes action to maintain global and holistic organizational perspective. Proactively identifies and includes relevant parties to ensure issues are addressed comprehensively across stakeholder groups. Advocates and creates visibility for issues. Anticipates potential scale of impact and takes strategic action accordingly.*
Directs the work of the agency team as appropriate to identify and intentionally build productive working relationships with press and influencers, build trust and credibility in professional interactions, understand editorial requirements of influencers, and identify and build stories around key priorities. Shares best practices and mentors others in networking and relationship building. Understands and appropriately leverages editorial calendar of stakeholders. Proactively identifies and builds stories around key priorities. Advises internal partners on press approach and build trust through transparency and responsiveness that positively impacts relationships with press and influencers. Prepares spokespeople for press engagements. Develops external communications materials for influencers. Collaborates with communications colleagues to ensure consistency of One Microsoft messaging.*
Leads strategy development internally for employee communications. Drives an over-arching cadence of communications and platforms for employees in a specific organization or geography to meet employee goals. Collaborates internally with others to create communications and develop platforms to inform and facilitate employee communications, including negotiating with collaborators to align on priorities. Ensures alignment to corporate employee communications focus areas around building confidence in Microsoft mission and strategy, accelerating culture change and celebrating employee pride and encouraging evangelism. Supports leader communications, including all-hands, SharePoint sites, organization emails, etc. Measures, plans, and informs team efforts by utilizing data and insights from internal surveys and feedback channels. Creates content and storytelling that is current and aligned with internal and external relevant corporate guidance (e.g., legal and policy regulations, financial). Drives the adoption and use of new technology and tools to help facilitate two-way dialogue between leaders and employees.*

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $144,600 and $216,600.
At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
